Tutu School Akron's Teaching Assistant Program is designed for individuals excited to learn the art of early childhood ballet teaching in a supportive, hands-on environment — at their own pace — while working toward becoming a Tutu School Lead Teacher.

• ·Assist the Lead Teacher in creating a fun, positive, and engaging class environment
• ·Help young dancers participate, follow directions, and feel successful
• ·Assist with props, activities, music, and transitions
• ·Help prepare and reset the studio before and after class
• ·Support classroom organization and cleanliness
• ·Learn classroom management and the unique needs of early childhood classes
• ·Gradually take on more teaching responsibilities as skills develop

• ·Basic dance experience required
• ·Genuinely enjoys working with young children
• ·Reliable, energetic, patient, and eager to learn
• ·Comfortable being silly, playful, and enthusiastic
• ·Previous childcare, assisting, education, camp, coaching, or classroom experience a plus
• ·Interested in growing into a future Lead Teacher role

High school or college students, dancers, former dancers, aspiring educators, early childcare majors, and anyone who loves young children and wants to learn how to teach.

$10–$15/hour after completion of basic training, depending on experience and responsibilities.

This isn't just an assistant position — Teaching Assistants who demonstrate reliability, initiative, and a natural connection with young dancers may progress into the Tutu Teacher training program and ultimately become a Lead Teacher. With 155 Tutu Schools nationwide, there are many opportunities ahead.
