SUBMISSIONS OPEN for the 2027 French Creek Theatre New Works Workshop!

French Creek Theatre (Lorain County Metro Parks) is seeking original 10–25 minute plays for the second annual New Works Workshop. Do you have a new story you'd like to bring to life on their stage?

Compensation: Playwrights and actors will be awarded a stipend following the completion of the performances.

Deadline: December 1, 2026

• ·Be 10–25 minutes in length
• ·Require no more than 6 actors
• ·Never have had a public performance
• ·Be flexible enough to be produced in a workshop setting (minimal props, set, and costumes)

Use the submission form via the link below. You may submit multiple plays, but only one work per playwright will be selected. Please submit each play with a separate form. The form asks for your play's title, required number of actors, a brief synopsis, whether you intend to direct, your script, and an optional headshot/resume.

Five to seven plays will be chosen depending on length, production needs, and proposed cast size. Playwrights will be notified by the end of December. Playwrights are encouraged to direct their piece and are responsible for communicating production needs to French Creek and sourcing actors for their script.

• ·Free public reading: Friday, January 29, 2027 at French Creek, offering the community and other artists a chance to give feedback
• ·Rehearsals: February 22 – March 19 at French Creek Nature Center (rehearsal space provided)
• ·Technical rehearsals: Week of March 21 in Ewing Hall at French Creek Theatre
• ·Performances: March 25–27 at 7:30pm

PLAYWRIGHTS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE READING OF THEIR PLAY AS WELL AS THE MARCH 27 PERFORMANCE.
