Near West Theatre seeks a Development Director to lead the strategic growth and diversification of contributed revenue. A critical member of the administrative team, the Development Director works with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees to build organizational capacity in all areas of fund development.

Near West Theatre is a founding anchor institution of the Gordon Square Arts District, serving the Detroit Shoreway, West Side, and Northeast Ohio communities from a state-of-the-art 27,000 sq ft ADA-accessible facility.

Fundraising Management

• ·Raise annual operating contributed revenue through new and established fundraising initiatives
• ·Manage the annual appeal campaign with the Grants & Data Manager and Marketing Manager
• ·Oversee foundation and corporate proposals and the annual grants calendar
• ·Manage the Near West Theatre annual benefit and donor cultivation/stewardship events
• ·Oversee fundraising systems and technologies
• ·Partner with the Development Committee to advance fundraising goals

Donor Cultivation & Stewardship

• ·Build authentic long-term donor relationships rooted in stewardship and trust
• ·Identify, cultivate, and steward prospects through audience development, alumni engagement, and community programs
• ·Create and implement a major donor program and formalize a Planned Giving program

Financial Coordination & Compliance

• ·Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end gift reconciliation
• ·Assist with annual audit preparation and IRS Form 990 documentation
• ·Maintain organized digital and physical grant and donor records

• ·5+ years experience in major individual, corporate, foundation, and government fundraising
• ·Excellence in writing and communication
• ·Proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, nonprofit tracking databases, Constant Contact, and social media
• ·Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
• ·Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and collaborative

$72,000–$78,000 commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical, dental, pension contribution after one year, 20 days PTO, national holidays, and a 2-week organization-wide winter break.
