ABOUT THE SHOW

Sibling rivalry, adultery, and dungeons — set at the fictional Christmas court of Henry II at Chinon, France in 1183. Eleanor of Aquitaine, the queen and wealthiest woman in the world, has been imprisoned for raising an army against her husband. Let out only for holidays, the play centers on the royal family's inner conflicts as they fight over a kingdom and Henry's paramour. A "medieval murder mystery" without the murder, presented in CVLT's intimate 50-60 seat River Street Playhouse.

ROLES AVAILABLE

Note: HENRY and ELEANOR are already cast. Casting 1 woman and 4 men.

  • ·ALAIS CAPET (female, can play 20–30, written as 23) — Sister of Philip Capet, of royal French blood. Raised by Eleanor; mistress of Henry. A pawn in Henry and Eleanor's machinations.
  • ·JOHN (male, can play 16–20) — Youngest of Henry and Eleanor's three sons. Pimply and immature, but his father's choice for the crown.
  • ·GEOFFREY (male, 20–30) — Middle son. No one fights for his claim; the most cerebral of the three boys.
  • ·RICHARD (male, can play 25–35) — Eldest son, later known as Richard the Lion Heart. His mother's choice for king; the best warrior of the three.
  • ·PHILIP CAPET (male, 20–35) — King of France, Alais's brother. Young but already a strong monarch. Wants Alais married to Richard.
