• ·TRINA (female presenting, 30s–40s, B3–E5) — Soprano with belt. Marvin's ex-wife and Jason's mother. Charmingly neurotic, eventually marries Mendel.
• ·JASON (male presenting, ages 11–13, voice unchanged, G3–D5) — Marvin and Trina's son. Bookish and awkward, navigating his parents' divorce and bar mitzvah.
• ·WHIZZER (male presenting, late 20s–30s, E3–C5) — Athletic, charming, confident. Marvin's lover, diagnosed with AIDS.
• ·MENDEL (male presenting, 30s–40s, C3–B4) — Marvin's psychiatrist who marries Trina. Modern Jewish values.
• ·DR. CHARLOTTE (female presenting, 30s–40s, F3–F5) — A dedicated doctor alarmed by the AIDS epidemic. One of the lesbians next door.
• ·CORDELIA (female presenting, 30s–40s, A3–A5) — Dr. Charlotte's partner. Runs a kosher catering business. The other lesbian next door.
